Ski Run Classification
Different countries around the globe have different signs, colours and symbols for identifying a ski slopes/runs difficulty rating. In North America including Canada each ski resort and region may have slight variations on their own trails but the following should hopefully give you some idea as to the differences in each ski slope/run. Please ensure that you check the ski resorts information when you arrive to ensure you know which slopes and runs are most suitable for your ability.
As a rule:
Green slopes/runs are the easiest on the mountain and are normally wide open groomed slopes with a fairly gentle gradient.
Blue slopes/runs tend to be more intermediate which make up the vast majority of runs at each resort. The slopes are generally more steeper than green runs.
Black Diamond slopes/runs are for the more advanced and are amongst the most difficult slopes/runs on the mountain which tend to be steeper and more technical.
Double Black Diamond are usually for experts only. These are more dangerous than Black Diamond and should be treated with extreme caution.
